Supported browsers

Last updated:

Supported browsers differ for the Pendo Web SDK, the Pendo application, and the Pendo Visual Design Studio.

For the web SDK

The Pendo Web SDK handles all front-end data and renders your guides. The Pendo Web SDK is supported and tested on the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 9 and above (including Microsoft Edge).
  • All versions of Chrome, Safari, and Firefox since 2010.

Pendo works on other niche browsers, such as Opera and Vivaldi, but we don't actively test these.

For the Pendo OEM application

The Pendo OEM application refers to anything that's accessed through oem.pendo.io/oem.us1.app.pendo.io or the custom host name. The application is supported and tested on the following browsers:

  • Microsoft Edge (latest version)
  • Google Chrome (latest version)
  • Mozilla Firefox (latest version)
  • Safari (latest version)

For the Visual Design Studio

The Visual Design Studio is the tagging and guide-authoring interface that launches over or next to your application. It runs on the following browsers::

  • Microsoft Edge
  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari (version 13.03 and earlier)

Chrome

As of January 4, 2024, Google Chrome began restricting third-party cookies, which can also affect local storage. This can prevent you from tagging and creating guides in Pendo unless you enable third-party cookies.

Safari

Safari implemented a different security called Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP) to restrict sharing cookies between first and third-party apps. As of February 20, 2020, ITP (version 2.3) is included in Safari on macOS for High Sierra and above. ITP prevents Pendo from launching the Visual Design Studio because Pendo leverages cookies to launch the designer over your application.

Currently, the Visual Design Studio isn't supported in Safari version 13.04 and later, which includes all actively supported versions of Safari. If you attempt to launch the designer in Safari, you can still access and use the Pendo Visual Design Studio from a different supported browser.
